To the members and supporters of Baltimore Theatre Alliance,
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Board President. I've been a member of BTA since its inception and have watched its ebb and flow along with the community that has brought us to this place and time. And what an exciting time it is.
BTA is about to undergo a rigorous Strategic Planning session in which we will be reviewing how we best serve the community. To those organizations that filled out the Member Survey, thank you, your input is greatly appreciated and useful. To those who didn't, it's like voting in the election, if you don't make your voice heard, it's hard to complain about the decisions being made. We need you to make us more viable for you. If you still have the survey, please send it in.
Our annual meeting was well attended and we had an invigorating discussion about a new initiative "The Vivienne Shub Baltimore Theatre Awards". As we look into this initiative, we will look to you for input, support and the shaping of these awards as we explore the possibilities – and if it is possible. The next meeting will be on December 8th and will be an important one. If you want your voice heard, please attend. If you are unable to attend, please contact Elaina or myself prior to the meeting so that your input may be represented.
This is not your only opportunity for input. We will be scheduling 2 more meetings in January. Input is vital as it may affect what services we are able to continue to offer our member organizations and individuals. We sincerely hope you will make an effort to attend. You do not need to be a member to have input on this initiative.
BTA has been a staple in the community for over a decade as a place to meet new artists, network, get critical information and be 'in the know' with the Theater community. The work we do is for you. Help us make the work we do better.
I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the meetings.
